ADA Cosmetics publishes the hotel amenities industry’s first-ever Sustainability Report

Demonstrating exemplary social responsibility and sustainability practice

ADA Cosmetics publishes the hotel amenities industry’s first-ever Sustainability Report

ADA Cosmetics, one of the globally leading manufacturers in the hotel cosmetics sector, has become the industry’s first company to release a comprehensive Sustainability Report, setting a remarkable precedent. The 52-page report, which encompasses the
period 2021-2022, has been meticulously crafted in accordance with the globally recognised standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). The reporting is voluntary, as mandatory disclosure for all EU-based companies will be gradually implemented
starting from 2024. It highlights the company’s exemplary commitment to social responsibility and sustainability.

The Sustainability Report represents a significant milestone in the industry, as there is currently no comparable comprehensive framework published by competitors. It also reflects the company’s unwavering dedication to developing sustainable products since its foundation over 40 years ago.

With a presence in 116 countries and more than 600 employees worldwide, ADA Cosmetics complies with international guidelines concerning labour practices, human rights, consumer and environmental protection, and anti-corruption measures. The company has committed itself to adhering to the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and has already implemented many criteria into its own business strategy.

To enhance transparency and accountability, ADA not only publishes its data in this report but also shares it with external organisations and participates in certification processes such as CDP, Cradle to Cradle Certified Products Standard, Nordic Swan Ecolabel, and others. At this year’s EcoVadis rating, a measurement of companies’ sustainability performance, ADA was awarded the Silver Medal: the company achieved an above-average result.

A central aspect of the Sustainability Report is the extensive care for product responsibility. Starting with the work of chemists, process engineers, and safety experts in laboratories located in Germany, the Czech Republic, and Malaysia, extending to resource-efficient production processes and product design. To ensure high-quality, safe, and sustainable products, the company develops, tests, and optimizes hundreds of formulations each year, following the Cradle-to-Cradle principle. With success: None of ADA’s developed formulas contain ingredients of concern such as parabens, silicones, formaldehyde donors, or isothiazolinone. Instead, natural and plant-based raw materials are used. ADA is the first and only company in the industry whose entire product portfolio is Cradle to Cradle Certified®.

ADA´s product diversity requires a high degree of flexibility in production. Experts consistently strive to incorporate various materials and processes – not only to produce skin-friendly care products and recyclable dispensers, but also inspiring designs. For example, in 2023, it is planned to define further eco-design criteria for product development to improve the circularity of the whole product portfolio since the company is strongly committed to a circular economy.

“At ADA, we are very proud to be the first company in the hotel cosmetics industry to publish a sustainability report. We are very committed to the principle of ‘Conscious choices – trip by trip’,” says Lutz Hübner, CEO of ADA Cosmetics. “Together with our partners, we can make the hospitality industry and thus travel more sustainable! By offering eco-efficient product and service solutions, we support guests and hoteliers in making their stay or their business more sustainable.”

“Our ambition at ADA is to be the industry leader in such topics, taking concrete steps and setting an example for others to follow. That is why we must be completely transparent about our actions.”

The Sustainability Report can be found online and is available for download.
